AutoVim 0.1.0 alpha supports Debian 13 Trixie with Neovim 0.10.4. Other platforms are outside this release's compatibility scope. Start with the compatibility matrix or use the Debian Docker test environment.
What is AutoVim?
AutoVim is a modular Neovim configuration for developing in the terminal. Its design draws on robotics and autonomous systems: observe the current state, act, and keep the feedback loop visible.
The editor combines explicit workspace roots, a single tool panel, persistent shells, file pins, syntax highlighting, and language tooling. The dashboard's eye and gear express the same closed control loop.
The editing model
| Concept | Responsibility |
|---|---|
| Workspace | An explicitly selected root for the current Neovim tab. Opening a file does not silently redefine it. |
| Standalone file | A file with no assigned workspace. Its parent directory supplies the browsing context. |
| Shared tool panel | Files, terminal, Undotree, and Harpoon occupy the same space, one at a time. |
| Language project | LSP may choose a nearby build root inside the workspace. That root does not change the editor workspace. |

What ships in 0.1.0
The release contains 29 Lua files, a native colorscheme, a lockfile for 11 plugin repositories, and the project license. Tree-sitter has 26 configured parsers. Plugins, parser binaries, language servers, and compiler toolchains are installed separately.
The Download page serves the exact versioned release archive and a Dockerfile that checks its SHA-256 before installation. The source browser reads from that same archive.
Alpha boundaries
Container workspaces and PlatformIO are inactive dashboard entries. Container-aware LSP and debugger integration are not implemented. The Dockerfile runs the whole editor inside a Debian environment; it does not enable those future editor features.
Ubuntu 26, Arch Linux, and the upcoming Fedora 45 are planned beta release targets. They are not supported alpha platforms.
